28 Oct Rise to the Challenge
Tony came in to get his Ghandi and Ikeda inspired sleeve. The whole theme is about being a leader and overcoming difficult obstacles. He had the idea to have a hand holding a heart and to incorporate two quotes.
“Be the change you want to see in this world.” – Ghandi
“Rise to the challenges that life presents you. You cannot develop genuine character and ability by sidestepping adversity and struggle.” – Daisaku Ikeda
Mahatma Ghandi and Daisaku Ikea are both known for being advocates for peace. Gandhi led nationwide campaigns for easing poverty, expanding women’s rights, building religious and ethnic amity, ending untouchability, but above all for achieving Swaraj or self-rule. Ikeda is a Buddhist leader, peacebuilder, educator, prolific writer and poet whose works have been published in more than 40 languages.
Tony sat strong throughout the entire session. Here are some pictures of the session.
